Would a survey be considered a qualitative or a quantitative research method?

Quantitative Research

By definition, measurement must be objective, quantitative and statistically valid. Simply put, it's about numbers, objective hard data. A scientifically calculated sample of people from a population is asked a set of questions on a survey to determine the frequency and percentage of their responses.

What is the proper name for the research method used when there is a correlation, survey, and questionaire?

I think the answer you are looking for is 'descriptive research'

My graduate thesis-Research Survey?

Hey guys, How are you all doing?

I am a 2nd year graduate student majoring in Public Administration.

I would appreciate it so much if any of you will just take 5 to 7 minutes to complete my online survey. If you know anyone else who is interested, please tell them about this survey too. (help a student out please)

My survey is about racial disparities in the criminal justice system, one’s attitude toward the perception of minorities.

Thank you in advance

My graduate thesis-Research Survey?
You got it! In some cultures, one receives blessings for assisting students. I like that idea! Good luck!

I just took the survey, and here is my feedback: I did not answer any questions that were poorly worded or used words inaccurately. (You confused 'effect' with 'affect.")

Suddenly, a number of questions use the first person pronoun and are written as though I am a Black American, when I have already identified myself as white. Therefore, I could not answer those questions and wondered, "Why the change midstream?" It makes no sense.

I know you are young, but your age categories end at 50, and the rest of us must choose "Other." That felt disrespectful. Life doesn't end at 50. You'll know that when you get there, but for now, trust me on this, OK?
Reply:I would be happy to help you with the wording, if I can. Report Abuse

Reply:I'm sorry; I tried taking your survey, but it's so poorly worded that I wasn't even sure what it's asking. You also don't have an age category for my age group (I'm 52). I don't know who "your" is in the questions after the initial demographic information; I think you need to reword them to say something like "I think that a defendant..." rather than "your..." - at least I think that's what you're after, but I honestly can't be sure.

You need to do some serious work on your survey questions to get accurate results.

Best of luck. You're welcome to contact me if you get the document fixed; I'll be happy to take it.
Reply:No thanks

Research Survey: How long do you shower?

I'm conducting this survey for my English Final Exam on Saturday.

I need to know:

1. How long do you take in the shower?

2. How long do you take if shaving?*

3. Would you be willing to install a "push button shower" to

limit your water consumption?

*This applies to males who shave in the shower as well.

A push button shower has a time release faucet that lets water flow through for 15-20 sec. You can push the button; get wet; lather up, shampoo hair, or shave; and then push the button again to rinse off.

Thank you very much for your time.

Research Survey: How long do you shower?
I take long showers. It's one of my favorite times of day. I spend approx. 10-15 minutes in there. This includes shaving my pits and calves every time. I would never be willing to install a push button shower. (I cant stand them when camping.) The push button would interfere with the peace I enjoy while showering. Good luck on your paper! I'm giving you a star because I'm curious to see everyone else's responses!
Reply:i take long showers in the morning about 15-20 i would like to take longer but i got to go to work but when i was in dys they made us take 3 min showers and it was enough time to wash myself thoroughly i like the idea of a adjustable 3-5 min button for kids parents can allow to press once or twice and shower can't shut off until the time runs out
Reply:1. 25-30 minutes. (Including, hair treatments, since my hair is horribly dry %26amp; thick)

2. 25-30 minutes.

3. No, because I would get too cold, in between button presses.

:D

(In response to your added info: no I would STILL not get one because I find the constant hot water too relaxing.)

good luck!
Reply:1*) 20- 25 minutes its my favorite thing ..

2*) 10 minutes at the most ... but i dont shave in the shower

3*) no i would get too cold

good luck with your exam =]
Reply:1. 15mins 30if im sick or realllly tired or something

2. 6.5 mins

3. yes if theres also an option for full showering where u dont have to use the button
Reply:umm haha 40 mins in a rush but useually and hour

(im a guy) my hair is super thick though and its a b**** to rinse out conditioner, i also brush my hair, teeth, and ocasionally shave in the shower.

but ya i waste alot of water, sorry guys.

2: 15 minutes

3: no way.
Reply:1-2) My usual shower is usually under 10 minutes, maybe 2-3 minutes shaving, 1-2 minutes washing my hair and body, then rinsing off.

3) No I wouldn't want to install a push button shower although for some people it may be really practical, not for me :)

My husband...

1-2) Shower is usually 25-30 minutes, 5-10 minutes shaving

3) NO WAY I love the heat of the shower, it's how I wake up in the morning!

Hope this answers your survey!

Toni Lynne %26amp; Justin
Reply:Here in Brisbane, Australia we are running out of water and are on severe water restrictions. We are encouraged to spend less than 4 mins each in the shower per day. My missus and I shower together so we effectively get 8mins which is enough time for me to shave. Its tough to wash and condition hair, shower and shave in 4 mins though.

We do have exceptionally low water usage in our house already and I would not want a push button shower. We have 5 kids and the shower water is the only thing which gives us blessed relief from the noise!

BTW we use less than 600 litres of water per day and we have a family of 7. If you use (on average) over 700litres per day for a household the government here asks you to explain and if you do it again they fine you. Its serious stuff.

Its amazing to read about you guys taking 25min showers -

Just so you know this is a city of 1.8 million people (3rd largest in the country) and we will run out (I'm serious - a major city with NO drinking water)of water by the end of 2008 unless the drought breaks and we get real rain, or the government's emergency pipeline makes it to the dam. Did anyone see this coming in the last 10 years when they could have done something about it? Apparently not...No worries mate...
Reply:If in a normal shower, about 10 to 12 minutes. If I'm shaving, about 15 minutes. For water saving purposes, yes, but I have long hair and it takes about five minutes to get all the soap out so it would be impractical for me to get that.

Can you help with this survey for my marketing research class?

I'm in a Marketing research class and need people to fill out a survey. It's only 10 questions. For the question "Do you read the school newspaper?" just take that as any regular newspaper. It's supposed to be just for the area i live in, but I really just need some data to analyze and would appreciate any help I can get. Just post if you can and will fill it out. If you've taken it once, please feel free to take it again.

Thanks here's the link

I took the survey again for you. I really do need to read my school paper more. Also, unfortunately i'm not familiar with a lot of the grocery chains that you mentioned so I'm guessing they're local or regional. Anyway, I wish luck with your marketing research class.
Reply:Maybe you should try to survey those in your area: students in class...call up family or friends....

RESEARCH STUDENTS: Ideas on how to send out survey questionnaire?

Hi,

I'm working on my dissertation and want to know the most effective way of sending my questionnaire out (I'm planning to use SPSS for analysis).

Should I:

1. type the quest. in MS Word and email it?

2. use a site like surveymonkey and email a link to ppl?

Plz list your suggestions / experience IN DETAIL....I'm looking for the most hassle-free way to do this.

Thanks a ton.

RESEARCH STUDENTS: Ideas on how to send out survey questionnaire?
emailing surveys isnt a very good idea. I would print the surveys in a paper that has your university logo to give it more credibility. Put the most interesting questions upfront, or else people will get bored. Another good way would be to do it by phone.

Conducting a research survey. Please answer the following question. Serious anwers only please.?

The passengers on board the Titanic were placed on the ship according to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class. You see many things wrong with this "class system" and write a letter to the editor of a major newspaper complaining about this. What would you say about the "injustices" of this class system.

Please try to make your answer at least 10 sentences long. If you don't want your results to be factored into a current study, then do not leave a comment. Please do not leave your name, if avoidable.

Conducting a research survey. Please answer the following question. Serious anwers only please.?
Sorry, but I see nothing wrong with this "class" system. It was not based on a person's nationality, race, gender, age, etc. No one was discriminated against Rather it was based on how much they paid for their ticket. Those who paid large amounts got more benefits. Those who paid a small amount got fewer benefits. That is only fair. They got what they paid for is all.
Reply:I don't know if you are trying to make more of this than what it is. The above answers are absolutely correct. It is a "quid-pro-quo" and that is all. If you are trying to make it into "classes" based on race, religion...ect., it does NOT apply in this case.

Now, there ARE lifeboats for everyone regardless of price paid. If you do classify people based on race, religion..ect, then whomever is doing so is just proving their ignorance. The moment that you display prejudice...You lose and prove yourself ignorant.

This is proven in everyday life.....For those who have their eyes open....
Reply:exactly. you get what you pay for
Reply:i do not think anything is wrong with the class system for buying tickets and getting the "extras" that you pay for. however... life boats, jackets and rescuing are NOT "extras" every life should have had the same value, and i'm not talking money here. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class passengers should have had an equal opportunity, and right to be saved.
Reply:Not sure this says anything about the "class system", but it sure does say a lot about how much you paid for your ticket. If you want to be in first class, buy a first class ticket.

This would be a more meaningful question if everyone paid the same amount for their tickets but were then arbitrarily assigned to 1st class, etc simply on their appearance or skin color.
Reply:I'm of the same opinion as dewcoons. We have 1st / 2nd / 3rd class rail fares, air fares, concert tickets etc. normal and if I choose 3rd class I save money...

What is a good Speech Pathology research topic?

possibly in language disorders or AAC, I know it's really broad but does anyone have a good idea for a survey-type research topic?

What is a good Speech Pathology research topic?
This site lists research topics pursued by others - it might help you to think of related topics:

http://www.ohiou.edu/hearingspeech/docum...

This site also has a list of several topics in speech pathology. It is actually a "cheat" site that will write papers for you and I would never suggest that anyone do that, but the list of topics may be helpful.

http://www.academon.com/lib/paper/96653....

Another idea is to get some programs from speech pathology conferences and see what the current hot topics are in that field.

Revisiting an online beauty research/survey site; can't remember URL?

Back in '02 or '03, I remember taking this professional online survey where users had to rate a bunch of face shots, and based on their selection they were given their preferences in terms of age, race, features, and percentile of beauty that fit their standard. (The entire test was around 30 minutes long I think.)

I'd like to revisit that website, but I'm not sure if it's still around. Does anybody have any clue as to what I'm talking about? :/

Revisiting an online beauty research/survey site; can't remember URL?
I have heard of that but can't recall the website. :( I know what you're talking about. I hope you find that. I looked on yahoo and google and found nothing. Oh well, we'll find it sooner or later. :)

Hope that helps! :)

Wow...I know, a lot of questions! Guys, thanks again to anyone who will take the time to answer these questions. I am doing a paper for a class, but I genuinely would like to learn more about this coping method.

Is it safe to use my credit card to complete offers on survey sites?
No, I wouldn't risk it.
Reply:Yes ,in fact I have a survey and would like your credit card number....I am taking a survey to see how many idiots will give me their credit card numbers.
Reply:If u are talking about panda antivirus, maybe safe, but if not.....DONT,it may be scam to trick u out for cash.
Reply:You need not pay any money to join a survey company. Pinecone research, Surveysavvy, Greenfieldonline are some of the larger survey companies, who pay regularly . A list of companies you can join for free , with details of amounts you will receive as payment, is available at http://tinyurl.com/mx9ga
Reply:I agree with lucee. A survey site has no need for your credit card information. It sounds like a scam. Don't do it.
Reply:No, I wouldn't do it. I've heard so many people talk about giving their credit card info to a survey site and then never getting the payment they promised--I don't know what specific sites these were for, but I personally wouldn't trust Panda: Panda is scummy in my oppinion, but I never actually signed up for any of their offers--just signed up for the site and then realized that they weren't actually a survey site, but a "take a survey and sign up for an offer site." But just that they would come across as paying you for taking surveys when they are really paying you to sign up for offers (most of which cost more than what they say they pay you) makes me not want to trust them.

Now, if its an offer you really want, at very least research that specific offer somewhere other than Panda. (Might be a good idea to post what the offer was/company that the offer was through even in this post).

Most likely you're safe. You might be dupped into buying stuff you don't need at these survey sites. Some I have seen lure you in with the offer of some nice mp3 player or something to fill out their survey, but at the end you have to spend money on their offers. So be careful, Nothing is free for the most part.

1. Have the American people lost more privacy now than 3 decades ago?

Yes - it's called the Patriot Act. Not to mention that technology is drastically better. Look up anybody on Whitepages.com and you can not only find their phone # and address but also their ages. Also identity theft is much more prevalent.

2. Has the American gov. lost more privacy now than 3 decades ago?

Government officials are public figures - they don't have the right to privacy.

Survey for college research paper regarding Needle Exchange Programs?

What is the first thought that comes to mind when you think of the phrase "Needle Exchange Program"?

What do you believe Needle Exchanges do besides exchange contaminated syringes for sterile ones?

Do you think needle exchange programs are helpful in fighting HIV/AIDS?".

Survey for college research paper regarding Needle Exchange Programs?
First thing I think is that it is a half assed attempt by a city government to say that they are doing something to help reduce the outbreak and spread of aids. What do i think they do besides exchange needles? Maybe give out methadone, and do i believe they are helpful? I think the exchange programs are helpful to fighting the spread of aids is the equivilent of one person driving a hybrid instead of a regular car.

Photojournalism. what does it mean to you? survey for research paper.?

To some a photograph in time magazine may just be a picture accommodating a well-written article. To others photojournalism is a story told by the photographer accommodated by a four-page description and a title. (klimkina 2)

what does it mean to you?

Photojournalism. what does it mean to you? survey for research paper.?
And sometimes "a picture is worth a thousand words" and nothing much has to be said. I remember a photograph of an accident where people were killed when a gondola in a ski area in the Rocky Mountains, carrying people up the mountain, fell. Some of the other gondola cars slid into eachother. There was a photo of two gondolas that had slammed into eachother. One was hanging by one wheel on the overhead wire. It was a beautiful day, blue sky, and snow on the tall evergreen trees. The photo said it all. Words weren't necessary. It was incongruous that such a beautiful scene could be marred by such a tragic event. It said, "This should not have happened".
Reply:In our current media phase it simply means ambulance chaser. If it bleeds, it leads!
Reply:No matter what the agenda, photojournalism is a very good form of propaganda. A good photogrpaher is able to capture the emotion of an event / scene / person to make the viewer perceive something in a certain way. The text of the story will be fact based - there is no room for opinion in true journalism, however if you inlcude a hard hitting picture, an audience can be swayed subtely and sometimes, quite unconsciously, to a particular point of view or opinion
Reply:'A single picture says a thousand words' is basically the origin of photojournalism. In the old days, journalists or correspondents merely write their news as it happens, where it happens employing a little bit of exaggeration to make the story hit the headline. A little exaggeration here, a little play up of adjectives here and a little there...eventually led to a popular clamor among the media to show 'proof of truth' on what they're telling people. So, the journalist credo included photos or footages of their subject, very crude, journalists team up with photographers. Later on publishers observed that papers with photos disappear faster in news stands.

So, publishers held contests to get more pictures until the pros jumped into the bandwagon. Services of professional, artistic lensmen became prohibitive in terms of cost so the journalists learned how to take pictures by themselves (or the lensmen learning how to write articles) signalling the birth of photojournalism.

Today, a news or feature article carrying picture(s) related to the story has still no match in terms of hard-hitting deadline and credibility. Pictures tell it all and evoke feelings (especially when a war is being reported) However, when photos are published for the sole of aim of making the headline but which mislead the readers as to its true purpose or implications, readers sense irresponsibilty on the media.

While the so-called 'stills of life' is truth in itself sans the manipulation, it still draws a lot of its credibility on the the journalist who is expected to be responsible by reporting only the truth...and truth does not always hit the headline.

What is the percentage of any survey that can consider as valid?

i'm doing social research survey.and i'm curios of the sample size that i should take so that my survey result would be valid.can anyone help me..thanx

What is the percentage of any survey that can consider as valid?
1 in 100 or 1 in 1000. Make sure you do it in a wide array of regions, though or else you will get bias results because you were in a subgroup, like just people on school campus,or dorm yards, spread it out through your town/city
Reply:before deciding the sample size, what is the size of the population you are going to consider?..i mean, for a particular area, there may be a defined population level, apprx...the higher the sample size, the more accurate your survey would be...if your survey needs greater accuracy, go for a higher sample size..

for moderately accurate surveys, go for a 30% sample size..but if the population size is high, say 1000 or so within a short duration of time, then go for a lesser sample size..

This is a Harris Poll Online Rewards Site that I've been a member of for a couple of years. Its free to sign up and participate, but you don't get rewarded with cash, but with "prizes" (movies/cds of your choice, magazine subscriptions, household items, etc...) It takes a while to earn some of the bigger rewards because they email you when they have an avaliable survey, but in the end you do end up with some free stuff. And you don't even have to pay shipping costs on your items!

Where is a current Pinecone Research survey invitation ad?

Probably under Botany in the science and math section.

Survey (research): Are turn signals for the weak?

If you put on your turn signal, you are asking for trouble, people get really cut throat, that's why I don't use mine.

Survey (research): Are turn signals for the weak?
i use mine when turning, but NEVER when merging...that's just begging some assshole to close the gap
Reply:Only when they drive with the signal lights on, and not turn!
Reply:Ahh people that don't use their turn signals are so annoying. Seriously whenever I see someone fail to use their turn signal I wonder why they are so stupid, and if they were dropped on their heads as babies. If you aren't using your turn signal, then you don't know how to drive, and shouldn't be on the road.
Reply:What???
Reply:Are you a BMW or Mercedes driver as the majority of people that drive these cars don't either
Reply:When I signal, I'm not asking permission. I'm giving fair warning. The old Dodge is about to be all up in yo kitchen. You make your adjustments accordingly.
Reply:Actually turn signal are for the smart...... Because they seem to help others know when you are about to turn so that they wont run in to u!!!
Reply:When changing lanes, P/people tend to speed up if You are trying to get into T/their lane. So yeah i agree with You...

Let's Go, Mets....
Reply:Well, you will be the cause of an accident.Use them. That is what they are there for
Reply:I know what you are saying is true in certain areas, I used to live in Houston where road rage is common and people wave at each other all the time but they don't use all of their fingers. One ought to be awarded combat ribbons for driving in Houston traffic. Even so, I tried to use my turn signal as much as possible to reduce the chances of an accident. The one time I NEVER used turn signals was if I wanted to change lanes. As soon as you turn them on, some jackass would speed up and close the opening that you wanted to move into. No reason, just part of the road rage mindset.
Reply:i use my because i hate it when people dont. it could be to late and u hit them in the back of there car. and it will be your fault for hitting not theres.
Reply:They are to show your' intent to turn or change lanes to someone behind you or other traffic,,most will appreciate it but there are some who will try to close up or get around you,,just shows their immaturity..Besides all states have traffic law that requires you to signal when you plan to turn or change lanes of travel...Try not signaling when the police are behind you and see what happens.....
Reply:what are you on about
Reply:Thats the first time i heard that. : - )
Reply:Well where I live, if you don't use them, you'll get ticketed. So it's better to use them than get ticketed in my opinion. And no one around here complains if you use them. I tend to get p.o'd if you don't, because it's rude.
Reply:When I'm driving you just have to watch out for my finger!
Reply:i never extend my arm to turn signal. it's for th people with too much time on their hands.
Reply:You need to let them know what the hell you doing other wise they get meaner
Reply:Not at all. They're a basic form of safety. Of course, we should never assume another driver sees them. However, it's one of the simplest safety measures you can perform while driving by informing others of your intentions.
Reply:Even worse if you dare to use your brake lights too, I guess!

Where do you drive; Rome, Athens, or Paris?
Reply:When you take a driving test, in the UK, and probably in America, the use of signals on the car are a requirement so they must be of real importance. If on a test you do not use them then you fail. So why stop using them once you have passed a test.

These signals are for all other road users in front, behind and to the side. This includes other cars and motors, cyclists and pedestrians. Give signals and any doubt as to your intentions are removed.
Reply:You're kidding, right? I can't stand it when people don't use theirs...... idiots!
Reply:That's Why You Have Them' To USE them....!!
Reply:No they're not. Turn signals are for RESPOSIBLE drivers who, having taken they're test will KNOW that it's a legal requirement to let OTHER road users know what you're about to do. For all the blatantly right reasons.
Reply:brakes are overrated as well.

Are there any members of panda research the paid survey site among you....?

I visited the web site and it read in faq that it they pay for survey through pay pal and it could take up to 6 weeks to get paid. Has that been your experience..... does it really take that long to get paid to answer the surveys they offer?

Are there any members of panda research the paid survey site among you....?
Panda Survey has minimum earnings level before they send your payment to you; and given the low pay per survey it can a year before you can even see your first $100

The rule, as always, is to stay away from those that ask you to pay before you can get these surveys.

Legitimate market survey companies such as Pinecone Research recruit members based on demographic characteristics -- e.g. mothers of babies 0-12 years old -- and will send surveys of products and services targeting this demographic group. Pinecone Research, however, pays only $5 per survey -- you're definitely not going to be rich with that. They can give you anywhere from 1-5 at most surveys in a month.

Other companies simply ask you to answer as many research as possible, and you don't earn anything just the chance to win at a raffle (which I find lame).

Survey for research project?

I'm doing a research project on stem cell research, and part of it concerns public opinion about the issue. If you could, please take a moment to state your opinion on stem cell research and why you feel this way. Thanks!

Survey for research project?
I support stem cell research. The controversy with stem cell research pertains to embryonic stem cell research where the human embryo is destroyed onced the cells are extracted. Those who don't support such research tend to believe that human life starts with the embryo. The embryos being used in such research would, in most cases, be destroyed or discarded if not being used for research anyway. Stem cell research can help those with diabetes, alzheimers, parkinsons, etc.
Reply:In favor with 2 conditions:

No government funding, only private.

Not from embryos, only from existing lines, cord blood, etc.
Reply:Waste of time and funding.
Reply:I am for stem cell research. Anything that can be done to help eliminate the diseases, illnesses and lower the death rate around the world if fine with me. For those who are religious, I'd say to them, that if their god didn't want it to happen, he/she wouldn't have given it to the persons who developed it. To the right to life people, wait till you get a disease that might be cured by the research, see how fast your mind will change in favor of it.
Reply:If you kill someone to do the research, then it isn't a good thing. However, if we can harvest umbilical cord blood, use blood from willing donors and from aborted fetuses (I don't approve of abortion but why waste the material? Two wrongs don't make a right) then maybe we can find a cure for many diseases and maybe we can isolate the effects of the pesticides and the poisons we are putting on our food and in our bodies. Fear and abuse of knowledge to further unethical and immoral causes are the real reasons some members of the public are opposed to stem cell research. If it is found that humans can be formed outside the womb and brought to term outside the womb, then that threatens some people's religious beliefs and also threatens to develop the one great race -- be it Aryan or Black or Asian or whatever!

Personally, I think all we need to do is exercise our rights and exercise our brains and we can prevent misuse and abuse of knowledge. But we can't sit back on our complacent butts and expect to live without disease and trouble. We need research and we need solutions.
Reply:Abortion is going to happen anyway - it's a legal medical procedure. If we can take something from a bad situation and make it a good thing then I am all for it. In the case of brain death we harvest organs, in the case of terminating a nonviable pregnancy then we should utilize the opportunity.

If we can repair injured spinal cords - We'd still have Superman. If we could fix the problem of Parkinson then young men like Micheal J. Fox wouldn't have to end their careers early and try to raise children they are to shaky to hold. (I am going for the obvious here to make a point).

We could cure diabetes - not treat it - but cure it. We could regenerate organs - think of all the people who die every day waiting for a new kidney or lung....If we think we can.....how in the hell can we not at least try? To not upset some religious zealots sense of morality? I'd rather upset a million people and save ten thousand than upset no one and watch these people suffer and die.

What are the uses and classifications of survey research??

Survey information is used for a variety of purposes, from informing the public to revising corporate or government policy. The results of surveys published in the newspaper show us how the public feels about a particular issue. Business and government agencies use surveys to guide their activities and to help them plan for future needs.

As for the classifications of survey research, I can't help you there. That is too broad a question for me to answer.

Do you need the people you research to sign a paper to verify?

If not, why don't you post the question on here?

Short Research Survey About Your School?

1. Do you believe an achievement gap exists at your school?

2. If so, what do you think is the cause?

3. Is there anything schools can do to diminish the achievement gap?

Do you think your school can make the following changes?

-more equitably distribute students and goods?

-make self-concept an important priority?

-decrease in-school segregation?

What grade did/do you teach? In what county/state?

Thanks!

Short Research Survey About Your School?
If by achievement gap you mean that some kids do better than others, then yes - until each student comes with the same IQ from the same type of household and has the same emotional background, this will always be the case. Schools can provide support to those who are at the wrong end of the gap but there's no way they can make all kids the same (and would we really want that anyway?), any more than a basketball coach can make all his players have the same skills. Your suggestions could help, and our school already does a good job in those areas. I teach grades 7-12 in Suffolk County, New York.

Please answer a brief survey for research purposes?

Have you had both circumcised and uncircumcised partners?

Which do you prefer?

Why?

How did intercourse feel different?

would/did u circumcise your boys?

Please answer a brief survey for research purposes?
well, i came to answer this survey, but i've only been with circumsized and i have two daughters, no boys, guess i can't be of much help
Reply:Prefer: Circumcised.

Why: The extra skin slides so there is less friction...nuf said on that reasoning. Anyone who has had sex knows why that is important.

I did: I only circumcised my boy b/c my ex-husband was adamant about it. I think it should be up to the kid. Also, early circumcision can cause problems, like it being "over-done" and the penis bends at strange angles when erect.

Oh ya, and aeiouys un-done boy is going to have serious jealously issues about his brother.
Reply:I've been with both... you cannot tell the difference.

I have 2 boys.. once circumcised the other not.

-The first one I had him circumcised because I didn't know any better. I was young and thought that all boys had to circumcised.

-With my second boy I researched it extensively and came to the conclusion that it was better to keep him intact.

Survey for research. 10 points for the best help. Thank you very much?

I am thinking of writing a thesis about Public Opinion on Capital Punishment based on socieconomic and race.

Here are hypotheses testings:

White are more likely to support capital punishment than African American? ---Please pick one

Strongly agree, agree, no opinion, disagree, or strongly disagree

The rich are more likely to support capital punishment than the poor? --please pick one again.

Strongly agree, agree, no opinion, disagree, strongly disagree.

Please help answer the two questionaires above..

******************************

P.S. This is just a rough draft. I am not sure whther this is a good idea. Please feel free to give advices or suggestion

Survey for research. 10 points for the best help. Thank you very much?
I agree on both of your points. Here's my reasoning: people's opinions are based on their experiences and people of different races and different socioeconomic statuses have very different life experiences. Wealthier people have more resources to evade a death penalty sentence than those who are limited to a (possibly overworked) court appointed defender. Also, it is believed that Caucasians and African Americans are treated differently by the justice system, making black people more wary of a system that tends to be prejudice against someone with dark skin.

I would recommend asking people of different races your first question (you know, check the box of your race) OR asking African Americans and Caucasians whether or not they support the death penalty then comparing the two groups. OR you could pass out each question to different people. Meaning maybe you survey 100 people on whether they agree or disagree with your statement, then survey 100 people on their opinions to see if perceptions match the facts.

Doing this with rich/poor variables is more difficult because you may have to define them ( I know my professors would have required that!) but you could definitely give it a try!

Good luck!
Reply:white are more likely to support capital punishment tan african american. AGREE

The rich are more likely to support capital punishment than the poor. no opinion.
Reply:I agree with the first point because I believe African Americans have been treated poorly in our justice system through out the ages and most often are not given fair trials for example what happened with Jena 6.

As for rich people I strongly agree because most rich people have the power of attorney on their side as for poor people who are stuck with cheap state lawyers who don't give a damn.
Reply:White are more likely to support capital punishment than African American? ---agree ,there are many more black people up for execution then there are white people and black criminals tend to have a higher amount of support from people on the outside.

The rich are more likely to support capital punishment than the poor? --disagree i don't think being rich or poor has an effect on that opinion.

you asked for my opinion on the questions, my opinion would be that they are neither here nor there , they don't support anything. as i wrote my opinion so could anyone else. a better way to set this questionnaire might be something like this.....

begin with an income bracket question... what is your annual income?

then ask about there race black, white ect.....

then simply ask if they support capitol punishment.

your results will be something tangible now rather then just people guessing what other people think, this as I'm sure you know is bound to be biased.
Reply:White are more likely to support capital punishment than African American? ---no opinion. It's just a matter of justice.

The rich are more likely to support capital punishment than the poor? --agree.
Reply:I just did a paper on capital punishment in my SOC class!

1. agree

More African-Americans are on death row. What's interesting is that crimes that involved victims of the white race resulted in the death penalty, than crimes that had African-Americans involved.

I don't strongly agree, because I've seen a lot of families where their loved one was killed by a criminal, and that criminal was sent to death row. And they still opposed of the death penalty.

2. agree

The rich have a quite large advantage if they are convicted of murder and could face the death penalty. They can bribe crooked officials and politicians, and money helps in a lot of those situations ;D Whereas most of the African-Americans that are convicted don't have the money advantage.

Why is a survey a good method for collecting data in a quatitative research study?

Give me some reasons...

Why is a survey a good method for collecting data in a quatitative research study?
Quantitative studies usually involve simple answers such as yes or no. The more answers you get (by handing out surveys) the wider your range of data will be, and then you will be able to better analyze the results.
Reply:If created properly, survey is a very quick and easy way of getting quantitative information.

What can be a good topic for my research paper related to hotel and restaurant management?

Please, can anyone help me. I can't think due to stress. I need a secondary research; survey and interview. The topic should related to my course. Hotel and Restaurant management.

What can be a good topic for my research paper related to hotel and restaurant management?
Yes, especially if it is on the menu.
Reply:It may be useful to think about the following basic points of view to find an interesting topic:

* which kind of "action" or "function" in hotels or restaurants seems especially interesting to you?

* who is/are usually responsible for it?

* for whom it is done / who needs the results of this activity?

* where it is usually done?

* when it is usually done?

* how can one define the quality of this action?

I think that these questions may help you to find and formulate your research paper topic because they reveal some general viewpoints which you can then "fill in" based on your own preferences.
Reply:hummm its kinda hard lol:P

I just received a MArket Research Survey Check??

I just opened my mail and received a check for 3,300.00 $$

I am confused and dont know whether to cash the check and go on a shopping spree or remain confused lol. It says in the letter ''this is to inform you that on previous survey by our affiliate Consumer Survey Specialists you indicated to be interesting in blah blah....et.c'' ''You are hereby selected to participate in a paid consumer research program in your area as a mystey shopper.''' blah blah. i am so confused and do not know what this is. then there is another form that Im supposed to fill out?

Name of store....was store clean...blah blah

Does anyone know what this is? am I supposed to be some sort of spy? lol

I just received a MArket Research Survey Check??
A mystery shopper is someone who goes through the customer process at a business in order to report back to management on the customer experience.

Mystery shopping is a legitimate business but if you didn't sign up for the job before they would not send you an advance check. It may be some sort of scam. Are you sure it is a real check and not a promotional fake?

You should call the company to clarify how they got your name and what their expectations are. If they ask for any money up front (application fee, etc.) then hang up because they are not legit.
Reply:Does it say anything on the back of the check? Read the fine print, you may be subscribing to something you don't want. I do some surveys for money at times, but the biggest check I have ever gotten was $100.

What is the name of the company? You can research it if it is reputable before you do anything.
Reply:Looks like you just won the lottery!! OR you happened to get someone else's check?!

I need some feedback on this eBay survey for my MBA market research class?

I am an MBA student at Baurch College. My project for market research is to create a survey and do analysis on the results. I am trying to gague the dissatisfaction of ebay users stemming from their recent fee increase. It would be of great help if anyone familiar with ebay can give constructive feedback on the survey below.

much appreciation. thanks!

I need some feedback on this eBay survey for my MBA market research class?
The questions seem well-worded and easy to understand, but the survey is probably longer than it needs to be. Do you really need all those questions to understand the fee increase issue? Your response rate will suffer if it takes too long. I suggest you go through the questions again and delete those that are not relevant to the main purpose.

Cellphone survey for marketing research class?
Done. It was short and all questions seemed to be interesting. I would be more than happy if you can keep me posted with the results of this survey. Also, for your info, questiopro.com have quite a good questionnaire software for bigger surveys - ift costs just 15$ per month and i have used them for some of my behavior and satisfaction surveys.

Good luck with your project. In order to get more responses i would suggest to bug your contacts on Facebook (if you have one )

Cheers

If you are doing research, can you post a survey question in different categories?

Without getting a violation, as long as the survey pertains to that category.

Or do all Polls %26amp; Surveys have to go into the P%26amp;S category?

If you are doing research, can you post a survey question in different categories?
Sure, but I start my question out by saying something about "researching information".
Reply:you sure can
Reply:According to the rules, all surveys have to go in Polls %26amp; Surveys. Otherwise, it will probably be reported by someone.

Research Survey ~ If it's on the internet, I can use it for any purpose?

I am conducting a little research for a Business Law project regarding people's attitudes toward the internet and copyrights. This is a pretty simple question ...

Do you believe the theory that "if it's on the internet, I can use it for any purpose I see fit"?

There are no right or wrong answers here, and I'd love to know the reason why you chose your answer ...

Thanks!

Research Survey ~ If it's on the internet, I can use it for any purpose?
Ah, NO, you can't.

Some material on the Internet is indeed in the public domain. However, other content is stolen or placed there without permission from the IP owner. Question, if you can see your neighbor's files via your network connection, can you use it for any purpose? Are these on the "internet"? So what if you copied these files to a public website--would that put them in the public domain?

I think quite a bit of content is placed on systems with an expectation of privacy. If one puts material on the web, you might also expect that information to remain private. For example, if you post your credit card information to a site while you buy a set of tires, you would expect the information to remain private. However, if you post an anwser to Yahoo!answers or to Wikipedia, you would neither have that expectation nor have the desire to keep the information private.

Feel free to contact me directly for further discussion.
Reply:Yes,hope you do it for the right reason though...
