What would be a good Sports Marketing Research topic (study)? Something that can be researched and tested?

I'm having a hard time coming up with a good research topic for a class I'm taking in college. I want to do something in the field of Sports Marketing but I am having a hard time thinking of topics that are testable. By testable I mean that these topics need to be tested through surveys, sampling, etc.

Any Ideas?

What would be a good Sports Marketing Research topic (study)? Something that can be researched and tested?
A few ideas:

is there interest in selling assigned seating to games played in a bleacher style gym - some people like the top row where there is some back support; some like front row; others want something else? you could do a survey of people on their way into the gym, find out how much they'd be willing to pay, see if it is a total bomb - just make sure you tell them it is just for your class or you'll have some folks ticked off forever....

find out if there is interest in starting a Bball or hockey or tennis or ??? exhibition match. Like the pre-season BBall tournaments in Hawaii and Alaska (great Alaska shootout). Obviously this might be bigger than you could pull off, but you could find out if there is interest in the topic. Once again, the preseason tourneys recruit student atheletes. A Division II student has little worries about getting on national TV - unless their university has a big tournament that draws division I players - the television of the events on ESPN is what draws good Div. II players to the school - and it helps athletes get exposure.

Smaller items - new surface of an athletic field, roof for it, or build it period..... sold by a marketing idea - an auction for sports related items, dinner made by coach, selling labor of football team members for a day (money goes to team not to player).

hope it helps
Reply:Two ideas. What is the per share profit derived from having an NFL or MLB stadium branded with a corporate name, such as Busch Stadium in St Louis or SAFECO field in Denver.

Or

What is the profit ratio involved with sponsoring a community sports team; such as Bob's barber shop having their name on a little league team uniform. Or is it used as a charitable write off.
Reply:shoes?
Reply:Maybe consider supplements. All athletes take them you could compare and contrast which supplements work best for certain sports but they of course have to be legal. Or you can do the huge industry of soccer which is the most popular sport, Adidas is the #1 soccer brand, I'm also in a marketing class currently, so maybe you could research nike and see how they could boost their revenue by attracting more of the soccer world. Or why adidas is so successful in the sport and why they are actually number 1.

Reply:Burger King and Taco Bell a couple time a year. McDonald's is the grossest muck I've ever seen - - it doesn't qualify as food. The rest of them make me pretty sick as well. We don't have an A%26amp;W but loved it when I was a kid. And if I really wanted to enjoy and torture myself at the same time, there is jack in the box and Carl's Jr.

What kind of questions should I ask on a survey, to determine if color affects peoples moods?

Im conducting an experiment, and I have almost everything I need in order to complete my experiment, but I also want to ask a survey to see if the questions I ask effect the answer of the person give according to the paper. I've researched for sample questions I can ask but im still having a lot of trouble.. can anyone offer some good advice for questions.. I would appreciate it greatly..

What kind of questions should I ask on a survey, to determine if color affects peoples moods?
If you are able to determine someone's mood from answers they give (Ex. "Do you normally visit the movies alone, yes/no why? Yes because I am a loner." You could probably guess they're depressed) then you can make the questions whatever color you like (as in the actual words in the question you would make yellow or whatever instead of the default black). So for the example question you could make it blue to see if you get alot of depressed answers.

You could also make all the questions someone gets one color and then give another person all their questions in a different color.
Reply:ask:

"does color affects peoples moods?"

What do i look for when doing market research?

So i have an idea for a new business and i need to do a bit of market research.

What should i look for?

Its a service for small business, would business owners really have the time to help me out with surveys and questions?

What do i look for when doing market research?
Depends on what you want to know. Generally people are willing to tell you about what they already purchase or do, and get impatient with doing all your homework for you. Ask about what they're already doing with the service if it's currently offered by anyone else. Then ask for one or two things they might improve.

If you were starting a courier service, you'd want to know how long it typically takes from phone call to the dispatcher and the courier picking up the package, whether that's satisfactory, and how much they charge. Maybe they might like an after-hours option and weekends.

If you were doing building maintenance/janitorial work, then you'd ask if they have time to do it themselves, would they want someone to come in for two hours on the weekends and do the floors and windows, etc.

Market research is about finding little holes to plug. Keep it short, and try a few methods -- first over the phone, but if they don't have time offer to fax the survey. Mail it with a postage-paid return envelope as a last resort. If you want quality answers you need to make it really easy for them to participate. The good news is that small business owners tend to look out for each other, so if you tell them what you're trying to do, most will be happy to help out.
Reply:You really could have given us more info on the type of biz to give more info to you.

But Id say have in mind-generally-:

pros %26amp; cons

likes %26amp; dislikes

any improvements

How can research be biased, and In what ways can surveys be biased?

Research can be biased if facts are misrepresented or doctored to produce the results the researcher wants. Another way would be demographics i.e. if you conduct a survey of teen-age related problems in a convalescent home where survey participants are old people, Also, if you conduct a research on eating habits of Asian people by testing products on Caucasians the results would be ineffectual or skewed or biased....

How can research be biased, and In what ways can surveys be biased?
example - If your pro- life you may find more research showing how many abortions are performed a year and leave out the why

Make a book of colors as many as you want...

When doing the interviews flash the color in front of the person and hand them a pre-designed response for to check off.

Put your responses going across the top

Put the colors going down the page

make sure to have it in columns.

Example of responses

1. Happy 2. Sad 3.Melancholy

4. Angry 5.Indifferent 6.Extreme Rage

Only in a single line..............

1Colors going in this directions

2

3

4

the it will be easy to tally up
Reply:In order to prove this you have to hide the actual purpose of the survey. Put the respondents in a monocolor environment, then use Likert scale questions to determine their mood. If you do not have the resources to change the entire environment, you could prove something just by putting the mood survey on different color papers.

I know there has been studies in the past about how color affects moral, work, and productivity. They basically modified the colors then observed the effects. Model the same idea but use a survey to measure the mood.
Reply:I am assuming you meant that you would be using different colored paper to put the same survey on... i.e. red paper with questions a-g then blue paper with questions a-g and so on....

You should ask emotion-type questions. Word them differently for the different colors but keep them the same premise.

Ask questions that would provoke strong emotions so you can get clear answers. Give them situational questions. What would you do in this situation? Give scenerios and keep them consistent from paper to paper. That way the questions are your constant.
Reply:I would write a list of colors and ask the people taking the survey to write down the emotion they associate with that color.
Reply:put different colors in different boxes then ask what they think about it

I joined about 10 of the top pay survey websites and I have yet be emailed. Is this normal?
Sorry I dont know but would love to know how it turns out.
Reply:I don't know what sites you're using but they don't sound very good.

I use a few sites and work on them everyday. There's a link in my profile to the sites I use. I make about 900 bucks a month with those.
Reply:Do not worry. It may take longer time to receive a survey invitation according to the site you joined.

However there are some factors that determine the number of surveys you can receive and of course you can make these factors act for you, some of these factors are:

1. You must complete all of your profiles and provide all of your personal data. As some surveys are subjected to a certain kind of people. For example, if a company manufactures mobile phones, they will only send surveys to people using mobile phones specially those using their products to know their feedbacks. Also some surveys may be subjected to people with a certain age say 18-30 years.

2. You must complete every survey you receive as soon as you can as more surveys are sent to active members.

3. Try to be realistic and honest in your answers and do not give useless answers.

Also the number of surveys depends on your location and country. For example, US members receive more surveys as many us comapnies wants to know the opinion of the American consumers only as they are the majority of their customers.

Really i tried survey sites but i found that it takes a long time to reach the minimum payout and receive a payment.

I think you can visit: http://www.ultramoney.110mb.com

and try the way explained in this site. It is easy, will not take a long time as a survey takes, completely free and you will earrn thousands of dollars.

Do you think all Market Research surveys should carry an incentive? if so what kind?

How much is your opinion worth? is it worth cash? or vouchers? or a snippet of the results? What is the value you place on participating in a 20 minute questionnaire?.

Remember this is about true Market/Opinion Research NOT sales

Do you think all Market Research surveys should carry an incentive? if so what kind?
hey hold on a second this is a market research survey... I'll tell you what I think for a fiver...
Reply:Cash is nice. I earned £5 + a chocolate bar for a 20 minute survey. A gift from the company for whom the survey is being conducted would also help to make the experience memorable %26amp; clearly linked to the product. For example a beer for a beer survey!
Reply:Definitely - at the very least you need a genuine possibility of winning something but I am much more inclined to answer surveys which pay me a small sukm or which give points which earn vouchers (as long as the points total is actually achievable)
Reply:No, I don't think all should do that. If they can get results free, then why pay for them?
Reply:Free gift. A few dollars. Almost anything would work. I think more people would answer honestly with an incentive. I personally would not answer dishonestly but I would probably not participate in a 20 minute questionnaire without some type of incentive.
Reply:The problem with incentives, is just that they can incent people or make them feel guilty into saying good things and not being completely honest. Unfortunately, not everyone is like me and will participate for the sake of marketing. So, you will do better to have an incentive, just know that and note that your results could be impacted by the incentive.
Reply:They used to give you chocolate, I was dissappointed when they gave that up!
Reply:Heck yes, defo some e-vouchers or something, as those surveys often take ages!

Where can i get survey questions for MMORPGs?

i'm currently writing a research paper about MMORPGs and i need to get some surveys/survey questions to help me out with it.

Where can i get survey questions for MMORPGs?
Ask the following questions.

1. What is your favorite MMORPG?

2. Why is it your favorite?

3. Can you give me some info about your character?

4. What part attracted you the most?

5. Do you wish for more MMORPGs like this?

Romantic research and investigation... A quick survey.?

In a persons lifetime, you hear alot of sayings about romance, a common one is "opposites attract"... Most of them are complete rubbish, But I want to try and find if there are some rules that stick.

Just answer the questions:

--------------------------------------...

DETAILS ABOUT YOURSELF:

AGE: (if you don't want to answer this, don't)

SEX:(Male or female, not 'lots')

Sexual Preference: (I will accept Bi-Curious)

Weight: (if you don't want to answer this, don't)

3 things to describe your personality: (Each thing no longer than 3 words)

3 things to describe you physically: (same as above and you must be semi-specific i.e don't just say blonde hair, say blonde short hair.)

--------------------------------------...

Then repeat that, but instead create answers for your ideal parter, or current partner.

--------------------------------------...

Romantic research and investigation... A quick survey.?
You're basing your entire "research" on looks, which rarely play into it all that much. I mean, I think my guy is cute, but I would not have been describing him as my ideal mate before we ever met, other than that he meets my main physical requirement which was always "a friendly face"

I love him because he treats me like a goddess, I know he will always be there to back me up, he's very hardworking and he has a strong family.
Reply:My husband and I have been married a year and we've been together since forever so it really doesn't matter but we truly are opposites attract because we're really not alike but here ya go anyways.

I am taking a research class and need people to answer a survey relationship stuff http://www.4cso.com/survey?

http://www.4cso.com/survey

should take about 20 minutes please dont give names this should be an anonymoust survey. Thanks for your help

I am taking a research class and need people to answer a survey relationship stuff http://www.4cso.com/survey?
I have taken your survey and answered to the best of my ability.

If the purpose of the class is to see how a survey works, then this will probably do it.

If the purpose of the class is to learn how to design a form that helps determine values or truths in marriages or relationships, then this survey seems to lack much. You miss things like commitment, honesty, trust, and love.

You talk about cheaper being single or married (I chose single because we have four boys) but marriage isn't about how expensive it is at all.

My view of marriage (or a successful relationship) is about what you put into it... not what you get out. It is about demonstrating a willingness to work through every issue, to honor the commitment through thick and thin, and to seek the common good.

I hope you can feed back to the instructor that there are lots of "value" questions that really get at the heart of marriage, much more so than "cost" or "quantity" questions. My suggestion is to revise the questionnaire.

I run a small business. How do I conduct target market research?

I run a small business selling women's celebrity-style acceossories. I need to find out who my specific target audience is and I've got some research to do. I've already put up a survey on my site and I've got results from 55 women so far but the information is not enough. I need MORE results than that. What resources can I look into for information on my target market (whom I can't define, just yet)?

I run a small business. How do I conduct target market research?
Find what I call a sister business that co insides with your own. If you sell women's accessories, find a local women's dress shop that caters to all ages. Ask the owner if you can do some market research in her shop. Take a small table and display your products. Prepare a survey sheet and ask questions such as age group, what you like about product, would you purchase this product and if so why, how much would you pay for this product, etc. This should provide you with a target group. Also to get store owner to go along, offer to give away a few products as door prizes to her customers. Note you may even gain a client. If the store owner sees a great interest in your product from their customers, they may ask to feature your products in their store. Good Luck
Reply:I don't know the nature of your survey questions, but seems like 55 answers may give you the basis to ask them more questions. Did you capture the names of the people who surveyed? Perhaps offer an accessory for more in-depth Q%26amp;A.

Or if you can identiy a store that sells what you do, find out what their demographics are.

Personally I received payment many time from these sites especially BuxTo - http://tinyurl.com/257okw is going to earn you nice profit if you can build your downline well. Of course you can still earn alone.

How much you're earning depend how hard working you're in recruiting downline, doing promotion (PaidToPromote link in PTR) and click all ads. But remember these are not get rich quick scheme.

Has anyone ever come across a survey site that pays money without having to pay for anything?

Sites like Panda Research have you signing up for things that charge you monthly, with penalty fees for cancelling. Is there anything that will just pay for taking surveys?

Try http://www.surveyspot.com/home.htm They've paid my wife about $25 so for to take surveys. Greenfield and Your2Cents are also good ones that pay (usually $1-$3 a survey). Not all of theirs pay though, some just enter you into a drawing to win money. You can choose which ones you want to take though.

Check craigslist for "focus groups" in your area. The timing may be incovenient, and they don't happen every day, but they do pay real money.

Don’t pay for any survey program to join. There are many free to join paid survey like survey savvy they pay more then 5 $ per survey. Always check for on which site you are registering is BBB (Better Business Bureaus) certified.

Legitimate market survey companies such as Pinecone Research recruit members based on demographic characteristics -- e.g. mothers of babies 0-12 years old -- and will send surveys of products and services targeting this demographic group. Pinecone Research, however, pays only $5 per survey -- you're definitely not going to be rich with that. They can give you anywhere from 1-5 at most surveys in a month.

Other companies simply ask you to answer as many research as possible, and you don't earn anything just the chance to win at a raffle (which I find lame).

One problem was the surveyors were looking for very specific demographics and you would spend 20 minutes on a pre-survey to find out if you qualified.

Then it would take 3-6 months for them to send you the money, and most of them never paid.

What would be a good topic to research on a college campus? something related to health?

I have a sociology project I'm working on but I need to figure out some good topics to research.

Any topics that relate to health and college students (remember I am only surveying MY COLLEGE...not colleges around the world) -

Anything about how things affect college students;

Think in terms of social networks (students interacting with peers). Remember this is a sociology project, not psychology. So I need to keep the research focused on GROUPS of studnets...or interaction between students. :)

Any ideas are greatly appreciated THANKS!

What would be a good topic to research on a college campus? something related to health?
STDs and if people wash their hands after they go to the restroom.
Reply:How about sex...there's no better sociology or group interaction project that I can come up with.

You could do it with answerers being anonymous, and compare statistics and ask how the influence of sex affects their time while at uni.

Or not.
Reply:how about depression. My hubby did a proposal paper on depression rates of college students and pushed for something to be done about it on the local campus. Naturally it got turned down because it wouldn't fit into their budget... 2 weeks later, VA Tech happened. My favourite sites are: Nielson Net Ratings, NPD, Ipsos and Cashcrate.

Check out this site I found which have reviews for each of the sites and more info on them:

Reply:I've done surveys for a long time and I created a whole blog about FREE surveys. I posted tutorial videos, proof of payment (checks), legit survey sites, and contact info if you want more guidance or have questions.

From my experience, this seems to be one of the best sites out there.

If I were to recommend a particular firm that offers paid surveys I would have to recommend Global Test Market:

They pay a very good rate for each survey, instead of entering you into sweepstakes that you're unlikely to win (which is what most survey sites do).

I need help with a psychology statistics topic for a research paper?

I need ideas for a psychology statistics topic for a research paper? It needs to be a topic that I can do an easy survey on and I only have like 4 weeks to gather all my data and that includes writing the paper too. I would appreciate sincere topics. thanks!!

I need help with a psychology statistics topic for a research paper?
i dunno how easy this would be, but what about the theory called the Oedipus complex. Its the theory of why guys tend to marry women like their mother and daughters like their fathers. I found it interesting because my mom was in and out of me and my brothers life when we were kids so i basically raised him cause my dad worked all the time. He ended up marry a girl exactly like me - same birthday, same middle name, same height, and acted just like me.

or another good one i heard was how when you are in class alot of professors tend to refer to everything in the male sense of a word,(ie - when speaking about God, we always say he.) i read where a male student had a female professor that changed everything to reflect the female version of the word. So if when speaking about God, she would say she. And you dont realize how it affects how you feel about being excluded from a group. You could maybe make up a survey some how that would differentiate the two and peoples perceptions?
Reply:Maybe the delay of gratification. You could ask some questions with situations about getting something now or getting something better later.

Then you could compare gender, age, or race (difficult to ask) and see if there are significant differences in you sample.
Reply:I'm not sure if this counts for psychology since I used it for sociology... but I did an experiment where I rode up and down in elevators facing backward instead of facing the doors and then wrote my report on how other people reacted to it. Good luck!
Reply:Why don't you propose to video a few different classes at your university?

Then figure how many men and how many women are in each class and if it's a male or female instructor.

Then calculate how much time the instructor talks and how much time the students talk.

Break down the student time into how much time a male talks and how much time a female talks.

Then analyze your results.
Reply:You could write a paper on statistics dealing with ppls road rage and the increase over the years. The psychological toll that triggers ppl to loose there patience completely.

Hire a marketing specialist or visit a university campus library they usually have software that have that type of geographical data. Good Luck!

lets take a look at your site and that survey and see if we can't tweek it a bit :)

I'm sure I could offer some direction that you could at least build upon.

Reply:Those online sites suck, i've tried some before. I actually just found a website that is free no pyramid scheme or multi-lvl marketing. You'll probably only make like 100 or so bucks a month but hey, it's still money. Check it out, I signed up in less than 5 min if you have a paypal account already.
Reply:don't get scammed by surveys sites. here is something you can try:

http://www.sharedreviews.com/signup_memb...

It's a site that pay good and is legit. All you need to do is write review on anything you want and they pay you $2 for every review. If you need any help, they have a forum that willl answer all of your questions. The reponses are very quick. Plus it is completely free to join. This is a very easy way to earn money online. Hope this helps

PS. If you join please refer my nickname perfectdeception
Reply:Beware of SCAM.

They want your email for spam and prize you will never see.

There is NO such thing as easy money. Easy money always comes with a catch.

You need to calculate the time you spend on junk like pyramid scams (in nicer words: "multi-level marketing") scheme and see that your time is well wasted and you make someone else wealthy.

In the meantime you can spend your time on building a real product and make money the honest way.
Reply:I dont think anybody pays to you for just filling up some forms or surveys. These are just scams, just avoid them. Remember there is no shortcut for earning money other than hardwork and innovation.
Reply:Some research companies are willing to pay people to fill out surveys and be part of their focus groups. Beware of scams and don't every pay money to participate in paid surveys.

I recommend http://www.treasuretrooper.com/352803

I just received my first check from them, and it's free to sign up.

What are the advantages of giving surveys as a collection method for research.?

Surveys need to be conducted in a scientifically controlled manner, with extremely careful planning ahead of time as to your plan to gather the data, the wording of the survey questions, how you'll obtain your sample, the size of the sample, the randomness of it, etc etc. Perhaps 80% of the work is done before you ask a single question.

then you need to know how to apply the complicated statistics to crunch the data.

If your methods are not sound, your conclusions are equally unsound.

Where can I find an existing research instrument to measure students' perceptions about science?

Need an existing survey instrument I can adapt for use in my research

Where can I find an existing research instrument to measure students' perceptions about science?
Try these survey instruments.

I hope you find one that is helpful. Public perceptions about science are important. Without a good dialogue about science between the public and our institutions of higher learning, this country could loose it's leadership position in science and technology if public support for science declines.
Reply:It's called "statistics". You give them a questionaire with the perception questions you'd like to know and then crunch out the stats using their answers.

Has anyone ever done a phone survey job?

I'm starting a job on Monday taking surveys over the phone for market research. I'm not selling anything, basically just doing questionaires from what I understand. I want to know to expect. Do most of the people respond positively? Is it a frustrating job? Anything else I should know?

Has anyone ever done a phone survey job?
Expect a lot of people to be angry at you for having their number and calling them in the first place. I did this work too for some quick cash in college, and have to say it made me a little emotional. Try not to take the rejection personally.

There will be some you call that are nice enough to take the survey, primarly older people or those you call after dinner time (before or during will be most annoyed). Because i work in marketing, I always do surveys like that cause I understand.
Reply:Depends on how much they pay you, and if you get paid per survery. If the money is good, go for it.
Reply:it may be frustrating because even though you are not a telemarketer people may think you are and get mad
Reply:If you get paid per complete questionaire, do yourself a favor. Resolve that you will stop at nothing to get the maximum income !
Reply:Most of the people you call aren't even home. Some of the ones you talk to are nice and some are nasty. I remember one guy lecturing me because I needed a license from the county. Shucks, I was in Washington, DC calling Florida.

LEGAL YES, ILLEGAL NO. They receive medical and other perks that are taken from the middle class to help them just belong, not get ahead. This is not right, just or fair to them or the Middle class. Too much $ spent on illegals and not enough on legals. We can not take care of others until we take care of ourselves...If we want respect, we must earn it, not give it away trying to solve other countries problems while selling ours out. The super rich are in bed trying to keep things the same as long as they remain in power and control buying out politicians while taking AMERICANS forgranted and advantage of with their herd earned $ which equates to time and energy, ours of which can never be replaced...It is their way of avoiding responsibility, by passing the buck and avoiding healthy change to stay in power.

How does someone do market research?

How does someone conduct market research with these four techniques, person surveys, telephone surveys, mail surveys, online surveys?

Example:

Let take the telephone surveys for an example, can you telephone phone any one?, or do you need permission?, or do you get a list from someone?, etc, etc.

How does someone do market research?
Market research is not just 'surveys'. Its understanding the maret conditions your company/product has to weather to be successful. In some cases, surveys work well to understand customer satisfaction. In other cases, knowing where your customers are is much more critical.

In terms of your question about telephone surveys, it all comes down back to what goal you're trying to achieve. Typically a "random digit dial" method is used within a specific geographic area to get results that are representative of that area. If you have customer list...just call the customers.
Reply:It really depends on the type of product and its market potential. I'd suggest you to identify your target market first. After having done this you can determine what is the best possible way that you mite get the correct results of your research. Some methods used are extensive and simple surveys, or obtain past records from similar companies of goods that you intend to deal on. Maybe you can also try find statistics from related sources and be resourceful in your ways. e.g. If I want to launch a new toilet seat and pot company in Ethiopia, I might want to go to the health department and find out the food habits of the people of Ethiopia to know the correct usage and thereby, the demand for toilets. (as the joke goes that in ethiopia people dont use toilets cos they dont have anything to eat)
Reply:Tyoe of Market Research will depend on your objectives:

Surveys are more suitable when you have to ask a series of questions.

Reserve telephone surveys for only one question research.

Mail surveys usually dont work.

Online surveys may not predict the right picture.

One suggestion: Mention your product or service and ask the question again. You would probably have more people giving you answers.
Reply:Goodness....

Market Research is an art and a science.

Each technique you ask about above has methodologies and pros/cons associated with the technique.

For example:

In person interviews are expensive and very limiting to a rather small group of people. This is commonly referred to as "focus group" studies.

Telephone surveys are getting more and more difficult with the new Do Not Call law. Only legitimate market researches that have registered with the FTC can conduct research, other than that, any other company that calls its customers has to have a relationship in place with those customers (no more cold calling.)

Mail Surveys are great, but limiting in terms of the complexity of the surveys that you can administer. And, with so much junk mail and a 2% open rate common, it's expensive.

Online surveys are the best thing that happened to Market Reserach in my opinion, however, even this method has issues. Anti-spam laws, overprotected inboxes, and lack of a reliable, projectible sample for b2b and small attractive segments of the ppopulation (e.g. the wealthy), make it difficult to deliver without lots of resources.

Most lists, whether mail, phone, or email ARE PERMISSION BASED and you do pay for them.

I need a survey question on Travel and Touism please :)?

I need to think of a thesis question with atleast 2 variables that I can conduct research and survey people upon but I need a really good thesis question on something related to travel and tourism...Can someone please help and give me any ideas. Thanks.

I need a survey question on Travel and Touism please :)?
Something about people who live in cold weather places seem to always travel somewhere warm and the people who live in warm weather places travel place where it is cold?

In my case this is true. I used to live in MI and would always go on vacation to some place tropical. Now, I live in GA and I vacation where ever I want, usually cold places, because it is always sunny and warm here.
Reply:Maybe something to do with ecotourism.

I remember having an argument with someone about the importance of people coming here to New Zealand to shoot and hunt animals (in particular Deer, Chamois, Thar...all introduced animals) while I was all for killing them off (or at least as much as we can) and focus on ecotourism eg whale watching, swimming with dolphins, nature walks etc

It brings in lots of money to get people to kill wild animals but what about the envrionment (ie they damage the natural environment and ruin it for everyone) and while they make up a small proportion of the tourists here they spend a lot of money doing it......While ecotourism or at least using nature to bring in tourists should bring in more people....

It may not be relevant to what you are doing but its kind of interesting.

How do I go about doing an online research about a subject in the form of a questionaire?

I really enjoy statistical studies and I would like to embark on a research and have 1000 people answer my questionaires and then write about my findings in the form of an article or a book. But I'm not sure how can I create a website with my questionaire and have people answer me. I also don't have any money to spend on a well known research company like those that always annoy your e-mail with e-surveys.

How do I go about doing an online research about a subject in the form of a questionaire?
Lots of people use Yahoo! Answers for surveys. You can extend your question and/or repost it until you get the desired amount of responses.

Also, there is Yahoo! Groups.

How well do you use other people to help you? Do you think you rely more on your self or others (for research)

I am doing a research project on how people use others to accomplish goals, such as leaders who are succesful cuz they can tap into people's strengths... im trying to figure out how the average person "uses" others so I can create a survey on this topic. Thanks for any thoughts!

How well do you use other people to help you? Do you think you rely more on your self or others (for research)
I always do things myself unless i have to be in a group. even when i am failing a class i do everything myself. i have to be independent because i feel i can't rely on anymore because they always let me down. that was the way i grew up though. if you didn't do it yourself it didn't get done and you had no one to blame but yourself.
Reply:Before I make big decisions I like to share my thoughts with family or friends, listen to their opinions and then go away and see what I really think. This also happens for work - consultation is a big part of decision making

Can anyone help me answer a 5-question yes/no survey about the dreaded income tax for my research? Thanks!?

1. Do you pay a federal income tax?

2. Do/would you like paying your income tax?

3. Do you feel the federal income tax is necessary for our daily living standards?

4. If your federal income tax money went to pay off the trillion-dollar debt (and thus paid to private bankres of the Federal Reserve), would you feel it necessary to pay?

5. And finally, IF the federal income tax doesn't benefit the millions of Americans who pay it, would you want it repealed?

Thanks again :).

Can anyone help me answer a 5-question yes/no survey about the dreaded income tax for my research? Thanks!?
1. Yes; I have, every year, since 1970.

2. No.

3. No. The Constitution provided for specific means for the federal government to generate revenue sufficient to fund it's legitimate operations, and those means did not include income tax. In fact, income tax was specifically prohibited. Under the current conditions, the expenditures of the federal government will ALWAYS exceed the amount of revenue exacted.

4. No. See #3.

5. Yes, it should be repealed because no one alive today agreed to it, it was enacted under questionable circumstances, enforcement by the IRS exceeds the law, it is higher than the tax rate that sparked our War of Independence, and is mostly used for agendas that serve corporate interests and political agendas that do NOT benefit us.
Reply:1. Yes I pay federal income tax.

2. Do I like it? Of course not.

3. I feel that it is absolutely necessary. Governments of all sizes rely on tax money to function. To pay salaries, to pay for services that you receive free. (sort of) Tax money will pay for that snow plow to come down your street and clean it off. Federal taxes pay for our military, for politicians, for federal programs, etc.

4. Well, if Bush hadn't gotten us into an unnecessary war, there would be no debt.

5. Repealing it would make no sense. Tax monies benefit everyone in some way. I don't like paying taxes and wish I didn't have to, but I pay taxes because at some point, I, like you, receive some benefit.
Reply:1. No, I do not make enough money to pay the federal income tax.

2. Not really, I don't think anyone likes to pay taxes.

3. Yes, our daily standard of life is based on having a world class transportation network which would not be possible without the federal income tax.

4. Yes, more of it should go to pay the debt.

5. No, the income tax benefits every American in some way, shape, or form. Do you use the Interstate highway? Airports? Do your kids go to public schools? Are you defended by the United States Military? Everyone benefits from the income tax.

2. no, way too high

3. yes, but we need a flat tax and lets make it fair.

4. no, I did not make this federal debt, our polititions did, let them fix it. Start charging people to come to this country.

5. yes, that is what is happening now. Most is going to War. It should go to help kids and seniors and veterans and temporary poor. Right now out Government throws money away a lot to other countries. Constant hand-outs.

I am tired of paying for those that dont pay. And I am tired of paying for the mismanagement of our Government.
Reply:1 - yes (and way to much may I add)

2- No, i really don't mind paying, just think it's unreasonable

3 - No

4 - yes

5 -yes, and changed to a flat tax for everyone in every pay bracket

I need to send a survey to employee to give me their incite on what are our organizational communication issue

I need to know what are the questions that I should Add in my Survey in order to make an effective research regarding communication problems in my Organisation

I need to send a survey to employee to give me their incite on what are our organizational communication issue
Hi

Well most people are not going to give you this because they sell the surveys! this is intellectual property, they have invested in and wont want to give away.

The real question is why do you believe there is an issue?

What information do you have at the moment?

The best surveys are ones that are developed around your company issues, structures and needs.

There are some great books and packs available commercially that can help here = one in particular comes to mind - "activities for unblocking organizational communication".

Communications or culture?

Often people claim 'communications here are bad' this is a generic complaint but often this is the SYMPTOM not the underlying problem. Often the real issues are with goals, management style and organizational culture.

If you use an organizational diagnostic approach (much more broad based) then this will not only cover communications but culture and style issues too.

Developing these tools is expensive, as they have to give you meaningful results. Look at http://www.rapidbi.com/created/free_busi... or http://www.rapidbi.com/bir/culture.html for examples of some.

Others include: http://www.shl.com/SHL/en-int/Products/A...

or http://www.amazon.com/Diagnosing-Organiz... ( a little light on actual activities after analysis)

If you are looking for satisfaction and engagement survey questions Google Gallup Q12 - and you can find some great questions, but not specific enough for you to develop a solution to any identified communication issues.

Hope this helps your thinking

Could you please help me with my statistics research project ?

I have to do a statistics research project where I have to design a survey and hand it to university level students. I can't think of any good topics. I'm really lost ! Please help me !

The topic has to be something like :- Favourite hang-out spots, Various tastes in music/dance, etc.....

Could you please help me with my statistics research project ?
For my stats project, I analyzed whether or not nerds are more likely to wear corrective lens than non-nerds. We used # of advanced classes to split up people between nerds and non-nerds.

A friend of mine analyzed whether or not girls are prone to take longer showers than guys.

Another friend analyzed if asians are better at identifying the nationalities of asians compared to whites identifying
Reply:You should be more worried about the design of your survey, the sampling plan, and assumptions required to analyze the data.

First, your data are already going to be biased and results will only refer to UNIVERSITY LEVEL STUDENTS. You cannot limit your survey to that sample and then extrapolate to some unwordly universe of people.

Therefore, take what you already know....you must survey UNIVERSITY LEVEL STUDENTS and ask them questions that are applicable to that group.

For instance, what subject , of those listed, in school is your favorite and THEN give them a finite number of subjects......math, english, physics, geography and history

Then ask what is their favorite hobby from your given list. For example, computers, reading, wrtiting poetry, outdoor athletic activites, and watching TV.

Sample a large number of UNIVERSITY LEVEL STUDENTS and do a categorical data analysis to determine if a relation exists between subject liked and favorite hobby.

The above is just a middle of the night thought. To help better I need to know much more about the proposed research project and your level of statistical knowledge.

Let me know if I can help......

We have to make a folder with our research for the REsearch paper and an Appendix?

my english teacher asked us to put all the articles, sources, surveys and all info we used for research into a folder. Then she asked us to put am appendix in the folder as well.

What the heck it that?

We have to make a folder with our research for the REsearch paper and an Appendix?
i dunno...google it........you should have asked her in class?!?!
Reply:like a table of contents. type in apa, mla or whatever form of appendix you have to make on yahoo and you you should find a site that gives you exactly what you are looking for.

Know any specific sites on research paper related to modular home construction (with survey questionnaire)?

Try these two sites:

www.modularcouncil.org

www.nahb.org/modular

They are run by builder organizations. Modular Council is run by the factory-built housing industry (manufactured and modular homes) and the NAHB site is run by the National Association of Home Builders (site-built builders).

Both sites have a lot of information, I am not sure if you will find a questionnaire report.

Remember also that there is a difference between a modular home vs. a manufactured home. A modular home is built to the same local building code as a site built home and finances just like a site-built home. A manufactured home is built to the national HUD-code. Over the past few years, financing has become much more difficult for this type of home.

Good luck with your research. I hope this helps.

How to do a dragonfly survey? *need a link*?

I'm looking for a resource that clearly explains how to perform a dragonfly survey. Specifically, I'm looking for a materials and methods section in a journal article that outlines a good procedure. However, most research articles that I've come across cannot be accessed. Anybody know of any reference that could be used?

How to do a dragonfly survey? *need a link*?
I couldn't find a website specific to just performing dragonfly surveys, but maybe these will help.

This website tells you about what dragonflies you can find where:

http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/distr...

This website gives an explanation of how to set up a Manitoba Dragonfly Survey. It may give you some ideas on how to start and organize.
