How can research be biased, and In what ways can surveys be biased?

Research can be biased if facts are misrepresented or doctored to produce the results the researcher wants. Another way would be demographics i.e. if you conduct a survey of teen-age related problems in a convalescent home where survey participants are old people, Also, if you conduct a research on eating habits of Asian people by testing products on Caucasians the results would be ineffectual or skewed or biased....

example - If your pro- life you may find more research showing how many abortions are performed a year and leave out the why
