Reply:i am a teacher and mother of 3 admittedly they are gown up now. i would not expect a 5 year old to be able to do any of these things with out a reasonable amount of assistance and discussion. if i spent some time discussing with the child about what a sandwich was. what kind of things you need to make a sandwich and what kind of things they would like with them. then i think they could probably suggest the ingredients. i would not expect a child to be buy these things with out a lot of help as they would not understand money or be able to add the sums involved at this age. neither would they know where to find the ingredients ( Most supermarkets are too big for adults never mind small children) yes i think they could make it with same help their dexterity may not be that accurate and you would probably have half the contents round the kitchen. no way would i expect them to prepare for others, unless you are talking about them making the same sandwich for all. even then this would be a difficult and time consuming task for a 5 year old.
